Hand Hammering

Hammering, also known as chasing or peening, is an ancient method of altering the surface of a workpiece by the use of a small hammer and blunt tools similar to chisels.  Water Street Brass employs this technique to give a unique texture and look to decorative surfaces.  There are many patterns and textures that can be achieved using a variety of different tools and techniques.  The process is very labor intensive and is a true art.  Whether a consistent, random, symmetrical or other look is desired, the artisans at Water Street Brass are well prepared to deliver.
